Program
Waterpower XVI will advance hydropower ... create a forum for sharing new ideas, technology, approaches, and solutions ... and continue to build hydropower as the world's leading source of renewable energy.
Waterpower has a longstanding tradition of technical excellence. The program features a variety of session formats, created in cooperation with leading hydro professionals who make up the Steering and Advisory committees.
A Call for Abstracts issued earlier this year invites hydropower experts from throughout
the world to share their latest ideas and accomplishments. A panel of technical
experts
review these abstracts and select the authors who will be invited to develop and present their Technical Papers.
In addition to the technical program, the conference features Symposia and interactive Roundtables. And, the Hydro Training Institute offers highly practical training designed to help new hires – or persons new to hydro – be more productive more quickly.
Technical Paper Presentations
Oral paper presentations, grouped by category, with an emphasis on sharing new ideas and results. Planned discussion time after the presentations allows delegates to further benefit from the experience and knowledge of the authors.
Briefings
Sessions in which authors present six-minute oral summaries of the highlights of their papers. In addition, each author is entitled to display a poster summarizing the information.
Symposia
Focused "mini-conferences" encourage in-depth exploration of timely issues:
Roundtables
Experienced and knowledgeable professionals share their insights on overcoming challenges and finding innovative solutions to critical hydropower issues:
Hydro Training Institute
This intensive, highly practical training is designed to help persons new to hydro gain the information they need to integrate into their positions faster and be more productive. The course includes a technical plant tour on Monday, July 27, and a series of sessions focusing on the full range of operations and policy issues. Participants also have the opportunity to participate in other conference sessions.
